    The Station For Music Geeks

@93XRT just played two excellent songs bookending a great Lin’s Bin podcast celebrating their station manager’s 30th anniversary. I just wish Shazam’s iPhone app could send custom tweets. WXRT – 8/28/09: Norm’s Anniversary There doesn’t seem to be a way to customize the tweets when using the Shazam iPhone app – I wish I could vary the text from “I used Shazam to discover…” And so, I won’t be using Shazam to send tweets very often, because frequent, robotic auto-posts get really annoying really fast.

Internet Declares Socks-Found-Safe Thanksgiving Day 2009

@Pennycat denies involvement in disappearance of Twitteratti @Sockington Sockington is Missing (Update: FOUND) — HUZZAH SOCKS ARMY UPDATE: SOCKS HAS BEEN FOUND. He was underneath a shelf in my office, wrapped in a curtain, completely spooked and terrified. For the first time in years, he spent hours completely silent, not even reacting to hands, flashlights and food being waved inches from where he was. We’ve got him resting in a bedroom and letting whatever freaked him out get out of his system. As I posted on Jason’s blog post and Flickr page showing a very subdued Sockington, it’s a huge…

    HOWTO: Track Swine Flu Online

Thanks, @mashable! Also, what a rotten time for @fallingrock to be on the road at @commonug. Wash your hands frequently, honey. HOW TO: Track Swine Flu Online There are few things in this world that cannot be easily replaced, repaired, or regained. Our health and the health of the ones we love falls into this category. The best thing we can do to protect our health, above medication or rest, is prevention. This week, news broke of a new and fatal swine flu on the Mexico-U.S. border. It has quickly turned into a growing outbreak and possible pandemic. Knowing about…

WWDTM: Listening intently for angry knitters

Today’s episode of Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me! was previewed by @WBEZ as one where a bunch of people had their knitting needles out for Mo Rocca, right in the front row. It may be possible to hear the clicking as they knit (not all that angrily, really). Chicago Public Radio Blog » Backstage Buzz at Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me! | News and Notes from WBEZ A couple of weeks ago, Mo Rocca made an off-hand comment that handmade sweaters were “itchy.” A fairly innocuous thing to say one would think. Following the broadcast, Mo received tons of angry emails…
