According to Pam’s House Blend, Larry Stickney of Protect Marriage Washington has a Twitter follower FAIL: Yep, two (2) followers. No SEO guys? No life coaches? No Bacon/Anti- Bacon bots? Not an impressive showing of support for withholding marriage rights on “moral” grounds. Ginny I can has iPhone? Via: Flickr Title: Larry Stickney Has Two (2) Followers By: GinnyRED57 Originally uploaded: 26 May ’09, 11.10am CDT PST UPDATE: Added the link to PHB that I couldn’t do as easily from the iPhone with the image in the mix, and while grabbing it, checked Mr. Stickney’s Twitter page. Still no followers,…

St Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake holds an annual Blessing of the Hands of healers. It’s the hospital where Mom was during her last illness, and our family got a lot of support from the Episcopal priest who runs their pastoral care program, Fr. Lincoln Ure. This event sounds just like Fr. Linc; I experienced the regular Wednesday Eucharist with him and some of the staff when Mom was upstairs, and the following week, I had to go back after she passed. Those people are some powerful healers, and I got a sense of how deeply they care for one…

The problem was the “saint” in the name, as Utah is the state of the Saints. The Salt Lake private school has changed its name so that it will seem less parochial sounding and easier to market to local families looking for an educational alternative. Rolly: A sign of the times? – Salt Lake Tribune Rowland Hall-St. Mark’s School has been a prominent fixture in Utah education for about 130 years. Founded by the Episcopal Church, the school has proudly boasted on uniforms, school communications and signs its motto: “Nihil Longus Deo†Never Far from God. Until now. The school…

NPR’s 5 part program “The New Canterbury Tales” is excellent, catching up on them at The New Canterbury Tales : NPR. Long ago I studied Chaucer’s long travelogue in the original Middle English, and the reading I heard today was so familiar. I actually had memorized the opening lines, years ago, because Mom boasted that she could still recite the Prologue some 50 years or so after graduating high school. So I had to give it a shot just so I could come home from my fancy college education one spring break and spout off about I can get as…

As seen at Pam’s House Blend:: The American Family Association has nothing better to do than harrass Pepsico: Here’s four good reasons I’m going to buy more Pepsi products… no, make that five good reasons. Pepsi gave a total of $1,000,000 to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) to promote the homosexual lifestyle in the workplace. Both HRC and PFLAG supported efforts in California to defeat Proposition 8 which defined marriage as being between a man and a woman. HRC, which received $500,000 from Pepsi, gave $2.3 million to defeat Proposition…

UPDATE: Just want to make it clear, the show will go on. Mr Cahill continues to update his blog with new developments, like the offer of a set of costumes from a community college in Utah that staged the play. He recently appeared on Oregon Public Broadcasting’s Think Out Loud, which covered it as part of a longer broadcast to do with censorship in Oregon schools. The pastor of the local Nazarene church, Tim Gerdes, also appeared to discuss the issues with Mr Cahill, and there was a long recorded segment with the parent who originally brought her objections to…
