G+: Hipster Santa spotted in Portland OR. He rides a spiffy red bike and has a man-bun. How do we feel about this? I actually like his "cool Grandpa" vibe, and little kids might find him more approachable and less scary. AND CHECK OUT THE HOMAGE to the classic PDX airport carpet on the settee! That's so awesome, as anyone who flew into Portland for the holidays in the last few decades will recognize. When that carpet was replaced, people wanted pieces of it for nostalgic souvenirs. Kevin Swan, Debbie Wynn, Aleta Zak, Arne Jamtgaard, and all my Oregon friends:…

G+: Whoa, Canada! Can We Has A Liberal Landslide Too? I just want to call out this quote and ponder what would happen if a young American electorate woke up… "2015 represents a generational shift in Canadian politics. Voters woke up on Tuesday morning to find that the most powerful people in their government were all under 45. Voter turnout surged seven percent this election, which is shocking for an election not contested on a central national issue like the conduct of a war or the implementation of a major economic policy. " Me again. Hmm. If only…. Trudeau Won…

G+: So. I'm not a very confident cyclist, but last June I rode 40 miles in Tour de Cure Chicago, a large fundraiser benefiting the American Diabetes Association. I managed to finish, although I fell twice. Ouch. Dang clips I'm diabetic, and cycle to get fit, lose weight, and manage my diabetes. After taking some time off this summer, I'm back in training, and boy, did I do something stupid. I committed to ride the 65-mile route next June, on the road, if I raise $1000 by January 1. My ultimate goal is to raise $3000 by June. Am I…

In December, 2014 I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes, and will be riding in Tour de Cure Chicago on Team Red again this year to raise money for research and to help STOP DIABETES. Why? because diabetes sucks! For the second year running, as a person living with diabetes I wear the Red Rider jersey for training and on the day of the ride. This year, if I raise $1000 by January 1, 2016, I will commit to ride 65 miles on the road, instead of the 40 mile ride on the trail. I’m not currently comfortable as a…
