Seen at Father Jake’s: BUSHFLASH – I knew that was AAR’s Mike Malloy doing the spoken word part, but the flash animation and music are great, too. I’ll have to go back and listen to “Did you get the memo?” too.

All praise be to St McTivo, which captured the return of AAR’s Al Franken Show to Sundance Channel. They have an attactive new set and the TV show broadcasts one hour of the 3-hour radio show, which works better for me. I can’t really listen at work without either disturbing my neighbors or slowing down my computer’s connection to certain systems (there’s a network problem somewhere, and the suspected culprit is either excessive bandwidth use by all of us, or a whole lot of spyware). Anyway, it’s good to see Al and Katherine, and it gets me all het up…

It’s good news for lefties because local talk radio is now dominated by conservative voices. WLS-AM 890 has gradually sloughed off or muted its liberal hosts, while WIND-AM 560 is now a full-time outlet for syndicated right-wing programming. It will be refreshing to hear steady chatter from Bush administration critics for a change, instead of the defenders and apologists who now dominate the dial. Even though my listening tastes run toward balanced debate and an illuminating clash of ideas and philosophies, I’ll take our side’s agitprop over theirs any day. But it’s bad news for lefties because AM 850–now oldies…

It’s been a while since I’ve listened to AAR – I think the mourning period is over and it’s time to get back into it. Al Franken’s show is about to start so I’ll tune in via the Internets link at their site. I used to listen to Majority Report every night before the election, too (except for Fridays, when Janeane’s dad Carmine was on). Dammit, I should have listened last night – Archbishop Desmond Tutu was on.

AAR is broadcasting live from Washington DC today. Their website notes: Bush Approval Rating Lowest Since Nixon Amid the most biggest (Ed.: hee!) security lockdown ever for an inauguration, a new CBS/New York Times poll shows that President Bush has the lowest approval rating at the start of a second term since Richard Nixon. Bush’s 49 percent approval is below Nixon’s rating of 51 percent in January 1973 and Bush trails Bill Clinton’s 60 percent and Ronald Reagan’s 62 percent at similar points. Every time an administration official repeats the words “mandate” and “majority” let’s just remember that approval rating,…

You’d better believe I’m listening live to Air America Radio today. I’ve been watching the Sundance 1-hour highlights shows for the last couple of weeks rather than trying to listen online at work. I’m becoming quite a fan of Katherine Lanpher, who has the most unfettered laugh in radio. Her job on the show is to keep Al on track and to pipe up when she finds an update or a correction online, and also when she has the occasional difference of opinion with Al. She also asks good questions of their guests. And of course, she’s a good sport…

I’ve been happy that AAR got around to offering a Windows Media stream; I couldn’t listen to Real Audio at work and the alternative feed via KPOJ in Portland didn’t carry Randi Rhodes in the afternoon. Lately, I’ve been listening to Al Franken off and on (and watching his weekly highlights on Sundance) but had fallen out of the habit of listening to anyone else, including Randi. Yeah, she’s abrasive, but sometimes you need that to scour the crud out of the old pipes, ya know? And every now and then, she plays that goofy “Bounce Your Boobies” song. Gotta…

Yay! AAR has a Windows Media link on the “Listen Live” link. This means that I could listen at work without a delay, and also means I can listen to Randi Rhodes again. Now that my schedule keeps me shackeled to my SABRE set until 6pm or after, this is a damn good thing.

Al Franken had an idea: what if everyone in America that disagreed with Bushco’s agenda ran outside at the same time(10pm Eastern?) and shouted“Oh no ya don’t!” or equivalent local colloquialisms. In Chicago, this means we’ll run out and yell “You’ve got to be (fuckin’) kiddin’ me!” (suburbs) or “Don’t even go there” (downtown) or “Oh no you di’int!” (Southside). In New York, they’ll apparently holler “Fuggedabouddit!”

Whoa! I’ve been busy in the evenings and haven’t been listening as much to Air America Radio lately, but visited the website just now to check in and listen to Majority Report. Whoa! Big redesign! Lot’s of interesting content to browse! News items and interesting looking links, too. Very impressive, it looks like they’ve got someone on staff now who does a lot of background items for guests on the shows.
