This is my revamped desk setup: the keyboard is a flatter Dell one that fits in the slideout tray under the top. The Microsoft Natural one is too high to fit unless bad things happen to the underhang with a power tool. Note “Wait, Wait! Don’t Tell Me!” pledge swag mug to the right. Oh boy! the WWDTM folks are in Boston, and their guest is Barney Franks. He got a huge welcome from his socialist-partisan fans. Aw, he’s telling a cute story about his boyfriend, Jimmy. And how it somehow relates to Bush, Palin, and Franks’ Secret Service nickname,…

Oh, yeah! PvPonline! I used to read the strip a lot more consistently. I should try and get that set up in Google Reader, I had it when I was reading via Bloglines. This reminds me of a wacky experience we had at our favorite sushi-teppanyaki joint, Kampai (which is conveniently located close to O’Hare, visitors stranded at the airport!). They have a very large location, with the floaty-boat sushi bar at the left hand end (with its own entrance) and the steakhouse/”hibachi place” restaurant at the right hand. They actually had two full-size dining rooms on the main restaurant…

Daily Kos: Palin Pranked Listen to the hilarious call here. EPIC FAIL. Grandpa McCain isn’t going to be happy about this one. Their website must be getting slammed because it isn’t loading for some. Here is the YouTube [kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/QbEwKcs-7Hc" width="425" height="344" wmode="transparent" /] (h/t NegSpin): Oh my God!! This is indeed EPIC… at first Palin is falling all over herself thanking him for taking a few minutes to call her, and he drops names of well-known Canadian entertainers, catching her out on not knowing the names of the real French and Canadian dignitaries they “replaced.” Throughout the conversation, Audette…

You’d better hope I’m wrong. I’d heard that a remake of the classic SF TV series “V” was in the works, but take a look at this bizarre clip from YouTube someone put together. I went looking for more “poker tell” citations for the debate tonight, as the Chicago Trib had some in a slideshow, but somehow missed the many times McCain poked out his tongue. Actually, on this clip, he’s revealed as the first Iguana-American to be elected to the Senate and run for President. [kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/CIZLg_lmx10" width="425" height="344" wmode="transparent" /] See? Quite, quite creepy. Don’t let your hamsters…

As noted in ***Dave’s post, if a show has been on TV for 3 or 4 decades, there are bound to be… discernable patterns. And it’s odd that they didn’t call the show “Doctor What’s He Doing There?” [kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/DtG5dK_HaGg" width="425" height="344" wmode="transparent" /] Via ***Dave :: “What are you doing here?”

Yes, I took a season off and didn’t watch the 12th season of Amazing Race. At all. Can you believe it? All because we were out of town or something the night of the premiere, and even though it was on TiVo for a couple of weeks, I never got around to watching, and didn’t want to start in the middle. But Sunday night was the premier of the 13th installment – sure to be a lucky one for this long-lived reality show! – and so since I had a little time on my hands, I sat down to watch…

Now listening to the beginning of WWDTM, and later on the celebrity guest is Leonard Nimoy. Can I get a W00t?!?!?! Apparently, Mr Nimoy did our favorite news quiz the honor of showing up in person, causing the staff much joy and making the dreams of at least one total dork come true (that would be host Peter Sagal). There’s an entire set of photos at Flickr, but this is the one that makes me go “AWWWWWWwwww!” As Peter noted just seconds ago, if you don’t know who Nimoy is or why Sagal is so absurdly pleased about his appearance…
