    Be on the lookout!

Last week we were horrified to discover that the church’s pipe organ had been vandalized – specifically, the ‘wind chest’ where all the small tin pipes reside. This week, we discovered the perpetrator! Yes, the photo tells it all. No, it’s not the contractor whose name appears on the fragment of yellow yardstick. The case is closed, because the perp turns out to be a nefariously furry squirrel. How do we know this? Because earlier this week, someone that went in to pick up a few things, and while in they: Found this mess of crap and twigs in the…

    Synergy Brass Quintet

Concert flyer Things are starting to ramp up for getting the word out for the concert next month (August 28, Holy Moly, 4 pm). The first flyers went up today, and I sold the first ticket. More to do today and tomorrow. This one went up at Caribou Coffee, I’ll return there later with small flyers in a little hanging pocket. I dropped one off at Panera Bread, too. Don’t Try To Lay No Boogie Woogie

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Music | Blues star Long John Baldry dies Damn. One of the few legends of rock and roll I’ve actually seen perform live, and he’s gone and left us. “Long” John Baldry enjoyed some popularity in the U.S. because one particular song got airplay in the late 70’s and early 80’s on college and album-oriented rock FM stations. I first heard him on the Eugene AOR station, KZEL. Yeah, in the mid 70’s and early 80’s, so sue me, I’m caught in fit of boomerstalgia. Anyway, in those days, ‘ZEL was a wild-eyed ex-hippie of…

Plodding Podder Fodder Folder Flogging Blogging Blogger Flogger

Okay, so I’m podding already. Downloaded 4 6 7 songs from iTunes already. My husband David’s going to regret this already. I’ve already realized it’s pretty trippy to play Cirque du Soleil’s Icare, then segue into Tiny Hat Orchestra’s Sing, Sing, Sing, then Rachel Yamagata’s Worn Me Down… and so on and so on. Hmm, there’s a new album by Cam Newton on iTunes… well, David has only himself to blame. I’d better get to bed…soon. Right after synching up and listening to that Cam Newton tune. I used to go to the weekly Beer Garden ‘way, ‘way back in…

    The Masthouse

This sounds like something that would be fun to do some Saturday: Community Sing at the Masthouse If it’s anything like McMenamin’s was in Seattle a couple of weeks ago, it would be awesome. No drinking – fine, it’s a private home. No smoking – AWESOME.

    The Reproaches

I’ve got the music we’re singing for Good Friday here at work with me, just looking it over and humming long more or less at the right pitch. And I’ve got chocolate tempting me, though I’m going to try not to eat it until at least noon. David’s home today and I won’t get to see him again until probably 9pm. Last night, I got home from the Maundy Thursday service at… 1020pm or so. And then Saturday night, well it goes to 11. Though we don’t really sing that much louder. Anyway, the piece we’re singing tonight is called…

    Happy St Paddy’s

I’ve found a new music website – Accuradio.com. Ineresting – very configurable webradio. Got there via the rather stupid Windows Media radio tuner. Will probably connect directly since their tuner is way cooler. It’s got gobs of Celtic channels and sub-channels, and it acts like a gigantic CD changer, with nice fast connections to Amazon pages for each CD. I’ll probably use it a lot at work. So far, I’ve heard some great music: The Bold Privateer, by Eliza Carthy Old Blind Dogs A self-released album called “Myxolydian” by Mark Saul The Palace Theater, by Seven Nations Boot Scootin’ Woman,…

    Meanwhile

Ow. For some reason my neck really hurts today. Probably too much time spent unched over, reading webpages. Also, it starts hurting if I try to use my cell phone for a lot of texting, wich is not good because it locked up and had to be swapped out for a new one. Thank goodness for warrantees; but unthank badness for not being able to pull all my phone numbers and snippets of quick text over from old to new. I’ve been working on vacation stuff at last. Should have booked the accomodations back in February when I yapped about…

    Heard In Passing

I was on my normal morning route to work – a little earlier than usual because I’m backing up my team leader, who’s out today. And I was not looking forward to it on a Friday, and on this particular Friday. So I was bombing along passing big-ass trucks on the right because there was a motorcyclist riding along over on the left, and I wanted to give him plenty of room. And he had that body language that big guys on big bikes get: leaning back in a relaxed, uber-macho position with his big engineer boots propped up on…
