Brilliant but Cancelled: Top Ten SF Series

Yeah, I had to see if Earth2 was on this list. Not. Darn thos Philistines at SciFi Wire. Wire’s Top 10 Brilliant But Canceled 1. Firefly, created by Joss Whedon. Fox. Original run: September 2002 to August 2003. Number of episodes produced: 14 A completely valid and worthy choice. I don’t own a Browncoat in real life, but I’d sure wear one in Second Life. And I’ve hung out at a Firefly-inspired bar inworld, too. 2. Wonderfalls, created by Bryan Fuller and Todd Holland. Fox. Original run: March 2004 to December 2004. Number of episodes produced: 14 Sorry, didn’t watch…

Introducing The Indian George Michael, Benny Lava

Our friend Steve just alerted us to this awesome video. More costume changes than a triple bill with Cher, Madonna, and Celine Dion. Better hair and more awesomer dance moves than even George Michael, with 90% more heterosexual flirting. Who And Where In The World Is Klaus Pierre?

The posts that went up on BoingBoing’s “BBtv” section started early this year: this crazy French-German guy was trying to become the next big American action hero. But who was he? Really? Here’s the most recent BBtv video: BBtv – Klaus Pierre: Super Pretty Action Hero Star – Boing Boing There are links to earlier videos, and then if you search YouTube there are other videos, uploaded by the great Klaus Pierre himself. Some of them are very puzzling, as they are completely in French. What? you mean he’s really FRENCH? Intriguing. And then the profile points to his website,…

    American Idyll

Some people are really into American Idol, but I am not. I went through the lunch room the other day while a couple of Idol contestants were murdering U2’s classic “One” in some kind of live outdoor news-show venue. It sounded so awful… I wondered “what the hell is the fascination this country has with listening to people sing badly?” Both singers were completely off-key, both fighting to out-bellow each other, and working their hair and outfits even harder than their (blown-out) voices. It was not so much a duet as a duel. Thank God for iPod. I went back…

    Introducing Miss Sarah Jane Smith

Sarah Jane Adventures | SCIFI.COM We watched the first episode of the new spin-off from the Doctor Who empire, and have already got it set up on TiVo for a season pass. It was like watching an old episode, a classic episode, of Doctor Who, with “The Doctor” gone off somewhere, leaving Sarah Jane in charge. It’s obviously aimed at a younger audience than either Torchwood or the “New Who,” but it’s still well worth watching. This was a 90 minute episode, and it started out with a new family moving into the neighborhood. The “fresh eyes” character in classic…

YouTube – Pirates and Emperors – Schoolhouse Rock

This may be a little different from the Schoolhouse Rock history vignettes you remember. Substantially accurate, although the folks at YouTube warn that Alexander the Great was “Greek, not Roman.” [kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/UQBWGo7pef8" width="400" height="326" wmode="transparent" /] Actually, Alexander the Great was from Macedon, but close enough. Career: IMPOSSIBLE

My husband David will be so disappointed to hear this: ‘Fraudulent’ British celebrity chef faces sack from US TV show after claiming he made Diana’s wedding cake | the Daily Mail A celebrity British chef who has his own TV show in America faces the sack after he was unmasked as a fraud. Robert Irvine claimed he had helped make the wedding cake for the marriage of Prince Charles and Diana.
