The Obama transition team has set up agency review teams that are meeting with a boatload of government fiefdoms agencies. The team leader sent to meet with NASA administrator Michael Griffen ran into some trouble.

This is just teh awsum. Sailors and light sabers and Navy tradition: it’s all good. Also, there’s a break for snacks and some commercials. You’d better hope I’m wrong. I’d heard that a remake of the classic SF TV series “V” was in the works, but take a look at this bizarre clip from YouTube someone put together. I went looking for more “poker tell” citations for the debate tonight, as the Chicago Trib had some in a slideshow, but somehow missed the many times McCain poked out his tongue. Actually, on this clip, he’s revealed as the first Iguana-American to be elected to the Senate and run for President. As noted in ***Dave’s post, if a show has been on TV for 3 or 4 decades, there are bound to be… discernable patterns. And it’s odd that they didn’t call the show “Doctor What’s He Doing There?” [kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/DtG5dK_HaGg" width="425" height="344" wmode="transparent" /] Via ***Dave :: “What are you doing here?”

Yes, I took a season off and didn’t watch the 12th season of Amazing Race. At all. Can you believe it? All because we were out of town or something the night of the premiere, and even though it was on TiVo for a couple of weeks, I never got around to watching, and didn’t want to start in the middle. But Sunday night was the premier of the 13th installment – sure to be a lucky one for this long-lived reality show! – and so since I had a little time on my hands, I sat down to watch…

Now listening to the beginning of WWDTM, and later on the celebrity guest is Leonard Nimoy. Can I get a W00t?!?!?! Apparently, Mr Nimoy did our favorite news quiz the honor of showing up in person, causing the staff much joy and making the dreams of at least one total dork come true (that would be host Peter Sagal). There’s an entire set of photos at Flickr, but this is the one that makes me go “AWWWWWWwwww!” As Peter noted just seconds ago, if you don’t know who Nimoy is or why Sagal is so absurdly pleased about his appearance…

Holy crap! We just watched the season finale of The Closer more or less in real-time, not wanting to wait for TiVo to spool up. It’s not just a cliff-hanger, it’s a heart-stopper. It amazes me how an ordinary TV cop drama can make viewers care so much… or maybe that’s just good drama, as TNT likes to tout. And good characterization, and good writing, and good plotting, and good direction, and good special effects, and so on. Dammit, they’d better start polishing up a new Emmy, or three.

Made it to Steve’s house to watch Stargate: Continuum and now have a Labradoodle at my feet. Polly is a lively girl but at the moment she’s being all good and calm. Until Steve gets her riled up for “outies,” that is. p>a href=”http://www.blogula-rasa.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/p-640-480-6c4e0c9d-970b-4392-9c71-edc249ceb748.jpeg”>img src=”http://www.blogula-rasa.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/p-640-480-6c4e0c9d-970b-4392-9c71-edc249ceb748.jpeg” alt=”” width=”225″ height=”300″ class=”alignnone size-full wp-image-364″ />/a>/p>

The story on this image: David and I were doing something we rarely do – watching TV more or less “live”, and even more unusually, we were watching a network show and not bothering to zip through the commercials. This one came on for a product called Botox Cosmetic — with the tagline “it’s all about freedom of expression!” We had to pause the TiVo just to laugh. Apparently, the makers are quite proud of their product and address the troubling question of “Will I be able to make facial expressions after using Botox-Cosmetic?” Yeah, right. Aaaaanyway. My husband David…
