Yep, it would be so cool to hang out with cool people who just won the friggin' Golden Globes for Chrissake, and also to be able to play the accordion yet maintain coolness. I am just bowled over that Ricky Gervais seems to go unrecognized, but then I'm a BBC American, we're funny like that. Seriously – what a fun life, although it's definitely one lived in the public eye. How odd it would be to know that untold numbers of strangers were checking in on your life, and whether you were treating your loved ones right (and wondering who…

Goa’uld captured in lava lamp – note human decoy figure to right You saw it here first, conspiracy theorists – everything on “Wormhole X-Treme!1!” is totally real. This juvenile specimen was lured into the containment vessel (cleverly disguised as a Lava Lamp ™ by the use of a simple decoy. Is this why these retro-cool novelty items are suddenly available at your nearest Walgreens? The gummint is quietly trying to place one of these snakehead traps in every home, because invasion is immanent!1

Okay, this is funny. Another one of my pet peeves validated. 😉

Yep, fell off the couch laughing at Angel. Which the WB cancelled why? Because it sounds like they love Joss Whedon and David Borenaz to bits. And it seems that the writer/director of “Smile Time,” the puppet episode, loves everybody, too. So the WB is cancelling this excellent and daring show why? I’ve really, really enjoyed this season and don’t want to see it end too soon – I’ve been waiting for the payoff to the Wolfram & Hart “deal with the devil” and I hope to see a resolution, and not have to wait for a hoped for or…

Sparky : The Sgt Siler Fanlisting Heh – after the Stargate episode “Heroes part 1” our intrepid Sgt Siler just might have himself a new nickname: either “Smoky the Sargeant” or “Little Guy.” Interesting fact: actor Dan Shea is also stunt coordinator for SG-1 – this makes perfect sense given the large number of on-camera stunts he’s done for the show. Must check out “thefanlistings.org” later, too.

Whoa – Mythbusters is hiring! Note: A weekly salary commensurate with the position will be paid to the successful applicant during shoot periods. You mean… you get to do all that and get PAID, too? The only episode I’ve seen so far is the “Chicken Gun/Killer Washer” one, and already I’m hooked. Surely I know someone who could apply for this job. Wait… via Highlander fandom, I probably do.

Well, this is a bit disappointing – according to an interview with BBC News World Edition, Patrick Stewart’s a bit of a “wet blanket” about space travel. (via ***Dave Does the Blog) He and others raise a valid point – “let’s solve the problems of this world first before venturing away from it” – but still it’s hard to hear this commentary coming from the man that inspired the newsgroup alt.sexy.bald.captains “I would like to see us get this place right first before we have the arrogance to put significantly flawed civilisations out on to other planets – even though…

I ran across Alton Brown’s Rants & Raves! earlier today. Love that show. LOVE that show. Mostly because AB offers solid advice about cooking, techniques, gear, and has a quirky visual style that makes it all look like fun. What scares me is that some people watch Alton for Alton. And some compare him (favorably? Unfavorably? to Orlando Bloom, international Elven heartthrob). And now I have a mential image of Alton Brown wearing tights and baking brownies. Please, Mommy, make the pictures stop. 😉 (must fight images. Must go to my happy tuna steak with wasabi place. )

Checked in at the TARflies Times site to see if the little counter to the next episode has started yet. Nope. Checked in at the TWOP Amazing Race site to see if any spoilers had been posted (sightings are considered spoilers) and ditto – nope. Augh. What’s happening? What’s happening? Are they starting soon?? And since the Tarflies site is run as a group blog, onto the blogroll it goes. Yayyyyy! (tm Kenny) God, I miss this show. Ready, set, Amazing Race already!

Conventions are dangerous, exciting places. Sometimes you meet someone special, as described by The Redhead. Conventions – specifically, fan or hobby conventions, bring together people with mutual interests (and no, they're not all a bunch of online weirdos with no lives). People who enjoy sharing their love for a hobby or an obsession with others love getting together for a good time – and afterwards, they've got connections that they didn't have before. And this is a good basis for starting something – anything – between people. All this reminds me of how David and I met. It was at…
