The second episode of the new season of Doctor Who was fun, featuring the new Doctor and all, but it wasn’t quite as good as any of the previous season’s episodes. However, it did establish one thing: 5 billion years in the future on New Earth, cat-nuns are the healers. So now I wants, wants, wants me a cat-nun to talk to, because they talk back in a very pleasant British accent, with sharp little pointy teeth they politely keep tucked behind their furry little lips. Oh, so cute! And they cure people too… although they also have some rather…

Spider (solitaire) – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Now the truth can be told: I’m battling an addiction to Spider Solitaire, which I find both oddly compelling and relaxing. Behold teh evul! Dude, you need to deal. Also, you haven’t cleared any “tableaux” (ace through king of one of two suits) and you only have 2 hands left. You won’t be assured of winning until you clear at least 4 tableaux, out of a possible 8 in a 2-suit game. Don’t obsess about “wasted” moves as described in the Wikipedia article; if you want to win, you WANT to have an…

The screaming begins! And the show I love, love, love, is starting out in my old home, Seattle. I’m going to try to liveblog this one, too. Very boring for you, but fun for me, so deal. AHHHHH! The sundial from the top of Gasworks Hill is the starting point. When Phil is on screen explaining the rules, my old neighborhood is just over his left shoulder, at the end of the high metal bridge. In other words, “I can see my condo from here.” And we’re off. Racearoundtheworld! Many legs, no hints. 8 elimination point pitstops. And in this…

Character actor Bruno Kirby has died. Best known for his role in City Slickers as Ed Furillo, the hard-partying friend of Billy Crystal. He’s the one who loses his stack, in his distinctively high tenor voice, over this discussion of a modern-day challenge: Mitch Robbins: It’s nothing to be ashamed of – I had the same problem. Phil Berquist: Didn’t you feel stupid; I mean, didn’t you feel… inadequate? Mitch Robbins: Yeah, for a while, but then I overcame it. Can I explain it to you again? I mean now promise me you won’t get upset. Phil Berquist: O.K.; it’s…

‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ Road Auditions Chicago Tuesday 8/15 9am-4pm Medieval Times 2001 N. Roselle Road Schaumburg, IL My friend Mark is sitting at this moment over at Medieval Times, Schaumburg, waiting to take qualifying tests. I guess they picked it because it’s a large, arena-like area that’s already easily split up into sections by color, but there’s no denying that it’s a faux castle that smells of horsies and roast chicken. It’s kind of… un-glamorous as a location for television auditions. He thought he’d be in the parking lot all day, but it sounded like he was…

I thought this quote was a prank when I read it on Boing Boing, so I went to the main CNN site and there it was: CNN.com – Agent infiltrated terror cell, U.S. says – Aug 10, 2006 A senior congressional source said it is believed the plotters planned to mix a British sports drink with a gel-like substance to make a potent explosive that could be ignited with an MP3 player or cell phone. The sports drink could be combined with a peroxide-based paste to form a potent “explosive cocktail,” if properly done, said a U.S. counterterrorism official. Are…

The big news in reality shows this week is that there’s pretty damning evidence that a Project Runway contestant may have copied photos from online, run them through a “sketch” filter with Photoshop, and submitted them as his own sketches in order to get on the show. If true, the consequences are pretty fraught for the Project Runway producers and BravoTV. This story made Yahoo! news, some other online entertainment news sites, and so on, but was broken by a TWOP poster named “victor rolf.” The thread that started it all: Spoilers – TWoP Forums viktor spotted it first, and…

I don’t usually go for memes, but this one caught my eye. The idea is, if you’ve watched at least 3 episodes, you get to put the show title in bold. There are a couple of shows, like Inuyasha or Father Ted, where I’ve seen one episode or two, and might have watched more if I’d remembered to schedule the time. Add to this the new SciFi.com show Eureka, which premiered tonight. We liked it a lot,and added it to the Season Pass list. Also, they have the coolest.shwag.evar advertised on the Made In Eureka home page. I wants me…

Let’s face it, I have no friggin’ clue who reads this stuff, or if I have readers at this here point. I have a stats page, which I check now and then and note that “readership” seems to be going up. But when I dig into said stats, it appears that many of my readership seem to stop by for a few seconds to attempt to leave spam in the comments before leaving. Or, they’re using an image from here as an avatar at MyDumbass or PrincessMarySueFanfic.com There are at least one or two of you, because you comment, and…
