OK, Google, You Got Me, Now Something’s In My Eye

I’m off this week, I’ve been getting stuff done at home, and today’s the designated “de-clutter the living room and drop stuff off at Sparrow’s Nest day.” But I stopped to log in and check email, and also research an under-desk keyboard tray because the built-in one on my desk broke (no great loss).

Typically, I start with Google, as it’s my default home page. I have to admit, they got me with this one, but the story behind it is even better.

High school senior Sabrina Brady’s entry into Google’s annual Doodle 4 Google contest really stood out. The contest asks students in grades kindergarten through 12 to submit drawings based on a theme. The theme for 2013 was "My Best Day Ever," and Brady’s depiction of her greeting her father after his 18-month deployment in Iraq when she was 10 years old won.

Even though this is heartwarming, Google, I still refuse to see your movie. That’s too much of a stretch for me and my husband David. We saw the trailer the other day when we went to the Star Trek: Into Darkness matinee.

There, now you don’t have to see the movie either, it’s likely that all the good har-de-har laffs are in the trailer. I like Owen Wilson, but Vince Vaughn just creeps me out for some reason.
