    This Is Folk Life

Ian from local band The Thoughts gets hauled into the inner circle and forced to sing a song so new he had to stop and remember the chords and words. Nice, fragile stuff. Via: Flickr Title: This Is Folk Life By: GinnyRED57 Originally uploaded: 29 May ’11, 7.54pm CDT

    Review: Seattle-SeaTac Intl Airport

We stayed one night at the Holiday Inn Seattle-SeaTac International Airport. It was a really late check-in as our flight on United (boo) was late, but David had paid to get us Economy Plus seats so we were one of the first people off the plane (yay). Getting to the hotel was the hardest part of the evening, no small feat with brains partly shut down with travel stress and legs still getting used to working again after 4 hours in the air. Seatac has changed somewhat since my days of living in Seattle and flying in and out of…

Say It Ain’t So, Teabagger Joe

My Congressman is Rep. Joe Walsh, and he’s having a bad week. First he makes this obnoxious and cluelessly racist statement about why Obama got elected – due to “white guilt” and the ability to sound smart and educated… And then he goes on to insult American Jews who aren’t supportive enough of the State of Israel. Oy. first the Obama gaffe, then a later post with the reaction from smart, educated American Jews. “Why was he elected? Again, it comes back to who he was. He was black, he was historic. And there’s nothing racist about this. It is…

Crap! Leave No Purse Behind, Dammit!

The bad news: I left my purse behind on Bainbridge Island yesterday and discovered this AFTER we made the ferry to Seattle with minutes to spare. The good news: it was at Fork and Spoon, the last place we were, and my friend Kevin was able to retrieve it. The middling news: I have to go back this morning and meet Kevin on the pedestrian ramp on the Winslow side. The not-bad-at-all news: the Number 16 bus goes direct from the hotel to the ferry terminal, so I’m off reconnecting with my earlier bus-riding self while David relaxes at the…

Comment is free | O’Lielly Lies, Savage Savaged, Hannity Ho-Hum

How our right-wing talkers are explained to the British by one of the Guardian’s columnists: don’t miss the bit where Michael Savage, banned from travel to Britain, whines about Obama’s ecstatic reception in Ireland. I liked this bit where BillO grouses that FOXNews don’t get no respect. It is understandable why O’Reilly would be concerned about losing advertisers in light of the recent cancellation of his colleague Glenn Beck’s show. Though no official reason was given for the programme’s cancellation, it is widely speculated that the loss of revenue resulting from the Stopbeck campaign’s call for an advertiser boycott had…
