Mourning Lorne
We were both saddened yesterday to read of the death of Andy Hallett, who played lounge-lizard and demon host Lorne. Id always assumed his last name was Green; his character had the gift of sensing the destiny of anyone, so long as they sang something.
He was so young, only 33… can that be right? I always thought his character was a metephor for living your life on your own terms, and even as an icon for inclusivity and acceptance.
He was hip, he was retro-cool, he was green; Lorne was an unforgettable character. Godspeed, Andy. You’re singin’ with the heavenly host now.
Headline: Yahoo Odd News Declines To Go There
An item about a French pole vaulter running naked with his equipment past Parisian tourist spots got plenty of media interest, but Yahoo Odd News ran it with the headlineDon’t go there, it’s too obvious!

Broken Headline: Salt Lake Tribune
Police identifies couple who may have froze – Salt Lake Tribune.
Right after reading an article about the value of editing and proofreading in order to produce well-written communications, this gem came up in my feed.
“May have froze.” I think I’ll start tagging broken headlines.

Flight 1549 Recovery Photos
The Online Photographer: AIG and US Airways Seek to Cover Up Flight 1549 Recovery Photos
Two of the photos taken by Stephen Mallon to document the recovery of US1549 from the icy clutches of the Hudson are on the linked blog post. AIG and USair told the photographer to take a bunch more images down from his website. Coverup, or paranoid caution?
CROCS Intervenshun – Thanks For Ur Halps LOLcatz!
I wonder what MrRileycat_Esq would do if I came home wearing CROCS? Would he react like this stalwart cat, saving his or her human from committing shoe crime?
Every now and then, I think about getting a pair of CROCS, because they’d make pretty practical gardening clogs and also for those times when we’re on vacation and need a comfortable slip-on sandal that won’t get ruined by salt water.
Fortunately, the good people at I Can Has Cheezburger were there to stop me from doing irreparable harm to my dignity and self-respect.
