The safety perimeter is set to keep her or him safe from us.
UPDATE: The lump sunning itself is a monk seal; that’s about how I feel at the moment. After returning from the scrimmage at the Farmer’s Market and other shopping adventures, we stopped off for deli sandwiches at the place by Brennecke’s and brought them back to the condo to eat, drink, and watch whales. Yay!! Our whalefrenz are here!
After that, David wanted to go for a long walk, and off we went with cameras. First back to Brennecke’s and the Poipu Beach area, and then back along the path through Poipu Kai Resort (where David and Steve and I had condos on our previous trip to Kauai).
The heat was really getting to me and I’m really out of shape this year, but two little entrepreneurs selling lemonade (and earrings) revived us with delicious, refreshing beverages. We walked back along toward Shipwreck Beach, in front of the Grand Hyatt. When we go there, we found this monk seal in his or her safety enclosure, so we stopped to “visit” for a while.
David felt like staying around for a while, but I decided to head back – kind of took the long way and had to bushwhack around where there were trail planning FAILs at a couple of points, but got to see a turtle playing in the surf near a rocky point. I was totally wiped out by the heat when I got back and had just gotten out of the shower when David got back… now sporting a blister on his foot. My own feet are not in great shape because of wearing the new Tevas so much on Saturday, our travel day. Oh, boy, we’re now the hobbling wounded (as in, not exactly walking).
We are now seriously relaxing. SRSLY. In fact, a nap is now on the agenda. Later, we’ll grab the entree stuff for cooking.
