    Things To Be Thankful For

I am thankful that so far, the administration of this country hasn’t found a way to blame the following on a Congress that won’t hand him their war budget on a silver platter: kdka.com – Military Asks Wounded Soldiers To Return Portions Of Signing Bonuses PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The U.S. Military is demanding that thousands of wounded service personnel give back signing bonuses because they are unable to serve out their commitments. To get people to sign up, the military gives enlistment bonuses up to $30,000 in some cases. Now men and women who have lost arms, legs, eyesight, hearing…

    Catching up with virtual life

Some things going on in my life that don’t require logging on: Last week at Holy Moly, we celebrated All Saints with great music, and a moving and joyful (and very wet) baptism. St Nicholas has a font that’s more like a wading pool, it looks like this when not actually in use: This is from last year’s Bishop’s Visitation with Bp. Victor Scantlebury, the assistant…

Atheists Can Now Watch Movies At Home

David ran across this classic example of a sign or notice in “Engrish,” a mistranslation from Japanese to English: It’s supposed to be “region free.” At least unbelievers can now watch anything they like without fear of being proselytized. I really hate that, and I’m a believer. Can’t imagine how annoying it must be for an infidel. Anyway, this notice is almost as good as the sign I saw in Nara, Japan near the famous garden park there, directing residents and tourists to the nearby “Pubic Library.” I was impressed, “library” is really hard to spell. I took a picture,…
