I’m trying to figure out a way to get Full-screen calendars in Movable Type [dive into mark] to maybe work as an ongoing events calendar for the Holy Moly blog/website (which is otherwise coming along).
I hit a point where I really needed an events calendar that can be updated by anyone with a sign-in, or at least easily updated via email to yours truly.
David implemented one that I currently have linked off the new and the old site, but it’s FROM HELL to update. And I’d like the ability to make a blog entry for an upcoming event generate a link to the calendar.
And so I was tinkering with the “large calendar” from diveintomark, but something’s screwy.
I took out all the curly quotes, though there may be some left. I’m getting a build error:
Build error in template 'Calendar': Error in (MTArchivePrevious) tag: You used an (MTArchivePrevious) without a date context set up.
Hmm. Checked the documentation and can’t figure it out. I may have used the wrong kind of template to build it in, too. Must figure it out later.

Further progress on church blog:
- Added a simple greeters schedule as an entry in a “lay” category
- Still completely stumped by the big calendar. Took out all the code.
- Added category listing, permalink, and category tags to entries.
- Need to add the Supplemental Category Tags plugin for nav goodness
- Realized belatedly need to do a lot more includes on all the goldang static pages
- Wasted much time trying to mess with tables. Don’t go there again.
