The widow of former President, and Republican icon, Ronald Reagan has told the GOP she wants nothing to do with their upcoming national convention or the re-election campaign of President George W. Bush.
Whoa. So noted. They really ticked her off over a campaign ad they were all set to run during or just after the week of Reaganmania that used images of former President Reagan in a way that seemed to connect his presidency to Bush’s, or gave the impression that he would have approved of Bush’s reelection.
Scroll down in the article for some more tasty fulminations from Ron Reagan, too.
I read Ron Jr.’s article in Esquire online. It was thoughtful and articulate. I find it encouraging that even some conservative Republicans are questioning Shrubs and his administration’s policies.
I can’t say it is surprising, but I have seen none of Bush’s campaign ads have aired in the San Francisco area. Surely he courts special interest groups in Silicon Valley, but the only heavy Republican campaigning I have seen here in recent years came from Ahhnuld, in his quest to become the Governator.
George W. Bush is a prisoner of the radical rightwing agenda. He and Dick Cheney owe their allegiance to the bigoted anti-science idealogues of the Christian right. Stem cell research could very well help many people in this country. Ron Reagan showed courage in addressing the Democratic Convention on this topic and criticizing Bush for his opposition. I think his old man would have been very proud of him…I’m sure Nancy was!!!
And you know they’ll cut him off in a New York minute if he stops kow-towing. By the way, you should stop by the Subservient President website (link posted by the fabbleous Jeff of Clack) and order the president to “kneel and pray.”
