The new entertainment center and bookcase for the family room were delivered today… this was built to order back in January. I am SO glad it’s here… because now we can get the TV off the counter of the wet bar, where it’s been since we bought it last summer.
Earlier tonight after looking the pieces over and pondering one challenge (fitting the tuner into the built-in shelf – a piece of trim is going to make it a tricky fit), David said “Maybe… we should think about getting a new sofa now.” Oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please yes thank you thank you domo arigato gozaimashita.
Oh, yes, please, particularly as you can see it in this picture of the bookcase:
And we’re going furniture shopping again on Saturday! Woo-hoo! Thank goodness we budgeted for this. Not sure what we’ll get – it can be longer than the existing couch because the shorter loveseat is going away, due to the size of the entertainment behemoth.
The box valance for the (ugh!! I hate ’em, they’re so “Illinois!!”) vertical blinds is awaiting installation and has been for – oh – 4 months? I just have to pound a few more antique brass nails in it. I recovered it with some faux antique “pleather.” The other one on the far side has been up for a while. However, we now see there may be a problem getting the box valance on this side to clear the bookcase. Joy. Typical. Joy.
And I left this picture of the entertainment behemoth mostly uncropped, because it tells parts of many stories:
Besides the lovely solid oak cabinet, you can see the infamous Jalapeno Red “keel” wall. For those searching Google on “wall painting where to stop,” this is how we did it. You can see where we did the touchups a few weeks back on and near the ceiling. 😉
And on the floor of the kitchen (upper level) you can see one of the wacky clacking UPS’s, which for some reason is being tested by being plugged into the outlet in the kitchen and left to its own devicely devices. I will ignore it until I trip over it; and then will heap curses on it and ask David why it’s there.
